Work I did in first year
I chose to study biomedical engineering in GMIT because many graduates are offered jobs quickly and it is a growing industry. I am also very interested in making medical devices.
Most of the work I did in first year was in the workshop for one of my modules called Introduction to manufacturing engineering. One of the tasks we had was cutting materials such as brass, aluminium, and steel into parts to assemble a wheel.
Another assignment I had earlier in the year was building a bridge from spaghetti, sellotape, and cardboard. The bridge was able to support over 1kg while only weighing 250 grams itself. el.
